Topic: Public Networking Projects Advancing Central and Northern Ohio

The Association of Telecommunications Professionals, Inc is pleased to present its February meeting (Wednesday the 14th, 8:30 AM) to be held at OCLC, Inc. The focus of the program will be "Public Networking Projects Advancing Central and Northern Ohio."

The first presenter will be Gregory J. Dunn, Partner, Schottenstein Zox & Dunn Co., LPA and Principal, Whiteboard Broadband Solutions. SZD, based in Columbus, has a respected telecommunications practice and is one of Ohio's largest law firms. It was honored the last two years by Business First in its survey of best places to work. Their affiliate, Whiteboard Broadband Solutions is a consultant to local, state, federal, non-profit, and private sector clients on broadband development. Mr. Dunn was responsible for the development, drafting and implementation of:

o The "Dublink" municipally franchised conduit system for the City of Dublin;

o The Ohio Broadband Policy for the Ohio Department of Development; and,

o The Third Frontier Network on behalf of the Ohio Board of Regents and OARnet.

The second presenter will be Mark T. Ansboury, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Operating Officer, OneCommunity (http://www.onecommunity.org/). OneCommunity's information technology platform connects Cleveland's and Northeast Ohio's public and nonprofit institutions to our next-generation fiber optic network, enabling enhanced, innovative solutions that are transforming our region. OneCommunity, based in Cleveland, is a community-based ultrabroadband grid network meant to foster economic development. Launched in 2003, the city network has branched out to become a regional digital superhighway. The project has garnered praise worldwide. The Intelligent Community Forum recently ranked it as the only US city among its "Top Seven Intelligent Communities," putting Cleveland among acknowledged city networking leaders such as Taipei and Seoul.

The meeting fee is $20 for members and $30 for non-members ($10 for students who pre-register before the Friday deadline).
